The Session Guide

Welcome! You're here because you're trusting me with the privilege of taking your photos, which I could not be more grateful for! This guide is a quick stop to what you can expect from a session with me: a style guide, locations, and turn-around time! Whether we are taking maternity photos, newborn, family, or couple photos, this guide is for you! So grab your favorite coffee cup, light a nice candle, and snuggle in for a fun read!

My approach and what to expect

Whether you are a couple, a family, an elopement, or on your own, my approach is the same. I never expect anything from anyone; you don't have to show up with your life together; your clothes don't have to be the best and latest thing; no need to put on a fake and happy smile; I want to photograph you in whatever mood or moment you're in when you arrive at the session. You are created in God's image, and I love that! This session is your movie (or book, haha), and I want you to have the freedom to run with that. If you want to lay in the grass in a sundress gazing up at God's glorious sky, explore a downtown, jump into a lake, or hop in a canoe, I'm down and ready to document.

If you're a family with kids who love to roam and explore, we can totally let them do so! If your little ones have the wiggles, we will engage them. I have never been one to make a child sit and smile; instead, I let them lead and have fun.

Your Vision

Your vision and ideas are super important to me!! Please share your ideas, thoughts, moodboards, and Pinterest boards with me! Getting an idea of what your creative ideas are helps me bring a better vision to your session. My prayer for our session is that the Holy Spirit fills the time with so much joy, laughter, peace, and creativity!

Locations

We could totally pick the cutest spot in the world to take photos, and I'm not saying a cute spot doesn't matter, but when it comes down to it, if we choose a cute spot that doesn't represent you, then its not worth it. Even if you have a location in mind that isn't on this list, let me know! I am always open to new spots and would love to photograph you in a spot that is meaningful; heck, even if it's a dumpster, I can make it work! If you don't have anything in mind and you're not seeing anything on this list that's calling your name, let me know! We will work together to find something incredible.

Style guide

Alrighty!! Clothes are funnnnn!!! First off, wear whatever is comfortable and works best for you; that is the most important thing. I have a few suggestions and a moodboard if you're in need of a little inspiration. Key tip! Keep in mind your session's location, so if we're wandering through fields, you may not want your nicest shoes. I try to keep in mind what you're wearing at the session so that I won't be placing you in positions that may be uncomfortable in certain clothing.

Feel free to scroll through the Pinterest boards linked below!

Color

Neutrals are always the safe bet! But color is never a bad idea either! Think about your location; if your session is in a forest, you may want to choose lighter and warmer colors. A beach location is a great spot to have fun with prints and colors.

Print

However, don't be afraid to play with print! I do recommend that if one wears a print, the other should wear a solid. With families, a few people can wear prints and the others can wear solids.

Contrasting

Contrasting is key! If her dress is a lighter color, his shirt can be a darker color. I am never opposed to playing with dark on dark or light on light outfits though!

If one is wearing a fun and colorful print, a color can be pulled from that print to help choose a solid for the other.

I am so freaking excited!

Wrapping up:

Now that you've got a better idea of what our session together is going to look like, you can sit back and relax and wait to have fun at our session! I will personally work with you to pick a time for our session based on your needs and location. Now you might be thinking, "Girl, when am I going to get my photos back?" I gotchu! All family, portrait, maternity, and couple photos have a 2-3 week turnaround time. You will receive a fully edited, private online gallery through Pixieset. There you will be able to download your album! Please note: if for some reason I see that the album is going to take longer due to tech issues, personal matters, or an overflow of work, I do my best to let you know as soon as possible!
